The postmortem examinations of two elderly women, both in their 80s, who were discovered dead at their residence in central Delhi's Rajendra Nagar, were conducted on Friday. Police sources indicated that Saroj Bala may have succumbed to injuries from a fall. Chandra Kanta, who had a pacemaker implanted, was heavily reliant on Bala for care and assistance.
Investigation Underway
Authorities are investigating whether the pacemaker played a role in Chandra Kanta's death. “We are examining if there were any issues related to the pacemaker that could have contributed. However, we await the final postmortem report for the exact cause of death,” a police officer stated. The bodies were handed over to relatives after the procedure.
Discovery of the Bodies
At 10:30 am on Thursday, a domestic worker alerted police to a foul smell emanating from the house. Upon entering, officers found the two bodies in a room. The incident has raised questions about the care of elderly individuals living alone.
