Prayagraj: A 52-year-old man, Suresh Patel, a resident of Kalyangarh Barna, was arrested by Pratapgarh police on charges of assaulting an elderly person in the village. The incident occurred on the intervening night of April 4 and 5.
Details of the Incident
The victim's wife filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Hathgawon police station, alleging that an unidentified man attempted to murder her husband while he was sleeping in his home in Kalyangarh Barna village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Hathigawon police station. According to her statement, the assailant slit the victim's throat with a knife and also struck him on the head with a stone, causing severe injuries.
Intervention and Arrest
Upon hearing the commotion, the victim's grandson intervened, which prompted the accused to abandon the knife at the scene and flee. Following the complaint, police launched an investigation and subsequently arrested Suresh Patel. The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for assault and attempted murder. Further investigations are underway to ascertain the motive behind the attack.
