Prayagraj Court Attaches Rs 6.1 Crore Assets of Gangster Mohd Parvez
Prayagraj: Rs 6.1 Cr assets attached under Gangsters Act

A court in Prayagraj has taken stringent action against an alleged gangster, ordering the seizure of assets valued at more than Rs 6.10 crore. The District Magistrate's court in Pratapgarh passed this significant order on Tuesday, targeting properties linked to Mohd Parvez.

Details of the Court Order and Attached Assets

The directive mandates the attachment of multiple properties belonging to Parvez, who resides in Hathiyan Purwa Khas (Ghurpur) within the Prayagraj district. According to a senior police official, the assets identified for seizure include valuable residential land, a sports utility vehicle (SUV), two two-wheelers, and all bank accounts connected to the accused.

This action stems from a case filed against him at the Kotwali police station. The case was registered under the stringent Sections 2/3 of the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act.

A Long Trail of Criminal Cases

The order did not come in isolation. Police records reveal that Mohd Parvez has a total of nine criminal cases registered against him across various police stations in both Pratapgarh and Prayagraj districts. His alleged criminal portfolio is extensive and includes serious charges.

The charges against him encompass:

  • Extortion
  • Violations under the Animal Cruelty Act
  • Offences related to the prevention of cow slaughter and smuggling
  • Violations of the Arms Act
  • Violations of the Explosive Act
  • And, of course, the Gangster Act itself

Significance of the Action

The attachment of properties worth over Rs 6.10 crore represents a major blow to the alleged criminal network of the accused. The UP Gangsters Act is designed specifically to dismantle the financial infrastructure of organized crime by targeting ill-gotten gains. By seizing residential land, vehicles, and freezing bank accounts, authorities aim to cripple the economic power that fuels such activities.

This move by the Pratapgarh court underscores the ongoing crackdown on gangster elements in the region. It sends a strong message that the law will pursue not only the individuals but also the wealth accumulated through alleged criminal enterprises. The focus now shifts to the legal process following this substantial attachment of assets.
