Prayagraj: Student Found Dead After Rape, Pocso Case

Tragic Discovery in Kaushambi Village

A tragic incident unfolded in Kaushambi district, with the body of a Class 10 student discovered under mysterious circumstances early on Sunday. The grim find was made in a field located in Shivratan Ka Pura village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Paschim Sarira police station.

Police Case and Allegations Precede Death

According to police officials, the events leading to the tragedy began when the family members of a minor girl submitted a formal application. They accused the 18-year-old student of raping their daughter. Acting on the complaint, a police team visited the student's residence on Saturday.

The boy was subsequently booked under serious charges: Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for making a false promise of marriage to a woman with the intention of having sexual intercourse, and Sections 3/4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Sequence of Events and Investigation Findings

Kaushambi Superintendent of Police, Rajesh Kumar, provided a detailed account to the media. He stated that the student left his home without informing anyone late on Saturday. His body was found hanging from a tree the following morning.

The boy's family informed the police that he had become mentally unstable after the police visit. The investigation took a critical turn when it was revealed that the minor girl was four months pregnant. In her official statement to the police, she claimed that the deceased student had promised to marry her.

The family of the girl approached the authorities only after they discovered her pregnancy, leading to the First Information Report (FIR) being registered on Saturday itself.

Ongoing Probe and Next Steps

Police have confirmed that further investigations into the matter are actively ongoing. The body of the student was sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. The case presents a complex web of legal allegations and a subsequent unexplained death, which the Kaushambi police are working to unravel.
