Prayagraj Sees Communal Tension Over Alleged Conversion Activities

Tension spread through Prayagraj's Myorabad area under Cantt police station jurisdiction after members of a local organization raised serious allegations about religious conversion activities being conducted at a residential property near a church in Kuan Gali.

The Complaint and Allegations

According to the formal complaint submitted to police authorities, the alleged conversion activities had been ongoing for several days before coming to light. Shubham Kushwaha, Vijay Pandey, and Amit Mishra, all associated with the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), visited the location after receiving information about the suspected activities.

The complainants specifically named Peter Raju and his associates as the individuals allegedly facilitating religious conversions. The FIR details shocking claims that statements were made encouraging attendees to discard idols of Hindu deities and adopt Christian religious practices instead.

The Confrontation and Assault

The situation escalated dramatically when Amit Mishra objected to the alleged comments and questioned the motive behind the conversion activity. According to the complaint, this objection triggered a violent response from the people present at the location.

Mishra claimed he was physically assaulted after raising his concerns, with the attack being so severe that he lost consciousness. Fellow VHP members present at the scene immediately came to his assistance and informed local police authorities about the incident.

Police Response and Investigation

Officers from Cantt police station, including the Station House Officer, promptly reached the location upon receiving information about the incident. The police team conducted thorough videography of the site and collected substantial evidence including pamphlets, religious books, and other materials for verification purposes.

Police officials also recorded the names of all individuals present at the venue. However, according to the complainant's version, the accused individuals were allowed to leave after preliminary questioning, with police authorities stating that formal action would follow after completing a proper investigation.

Growing Tension and Political Reactions

An FIR regarding the entire incident has been officially submitted at the Cantt police station. Vishva Hindu Parishad (Gauraksha) regional minister Lal Mani Tiwari has issued a strong statement indicating that the organization will be compelled to stage protests if a formal case is not registered and the accused individuals are not arrested promptly.

Police authorities have confirmed that the matter remains under active investigation and have assured that appropriate legal action will be taken based on the evidence gathered during their inquiry.
