Pregnant Woman Hacked to Death in Odisha

A 21-year-old pregnant woman was allegedly hacked to death by her husband's younger brother in Kharida village under Hinjili police station limits in Ganjam district on Tuesday. The victim, identified as Pooja Swain of Agastinuagaon village, was sitting on a dharna along with her two-year-old daughter outside her husband's house at the time of the incident.

According to police, the woman was protesting against her husband, Chintu Gouda, who had allegedly abandoned her. The accused, Litu Gouda, attacked her with an axe while she was seated. The husband was not present at the house when the crime occurred.

Police have registered a murder case and seized the weapon used in the attack. The accused has been detained for interrogation. Srinibash Sethy, Inspector-in-Charge of Hinjili police station, confirmed the arrest and investigation.
