A 19-year-old pregnant woman, Simranjeet Kaur, was allegedly killed by her husband, Sachpreet Singh, at her maternal home in Thuthianwali village near Mansa town late on Friday night. The murder was reportedly triggered by the husband's suspicion of infidelity. Simranjeet had come to her parents' house for delivery.
Victim's Father Lodges Complaint
Her father, Sewak Singh, filed a complaint with the police, alleging that Sachpreet Singh slit her throat with a sharp-edged weapon and then fled the scene. The couple had married about a year ago after having an affair while studying together at a school in Bhaini Bagha village.
Police Investigation Underway
ASI Makhan Singh, in charge of the Thuthianwali police post, confirmed that a case has been registered based on the victim's father's complaint. "The girl was murdered in the washroom of her house," he said. Efforts are underway to arrest the accused.
Background of the Couple
Sources revealed that the accused was adopted by his parents in his childhood. The couple belonged to different communities. The accused's family owns about 2.5 acres of land, while the deceased's father is a labourer. Inspector Jaspreet Singh, SHO of Mansa Sadar police station, stated that the accused will be arrested and sent behind bars soon.
