Pune Crime Branch Arrests 3 for Assault, Abduction of Daily Wage Workers
Pune: 3 held for assault, abduction of workers

The Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch has cracked a case of assault and abduction, leading to the arrest of three individuals and the detention of three accomplices. The incident, stemming from a minor dispute, involved four daily wage workers who were brutally attacked late on Sunday night.

Violent Altercation Over a Trivial Matter

The trouble began late on Sunday night when a heated argument erupted between a gang of five men and four daily wage labourers. The dispute reportedly started over something as petty as asking for an address. The situation quickly escalated into violence.

The gang mercilessly thrashed all four workers. They also robbed them of Rs 500 and forcibly abducted two of the victims, bundling them into a mini-truck. The remaining worker managed to reach the Alandi police station to file a complaint, leading to the registration of a case for dacoity and abduction against the unknown assailants.

CCTV Footage and Swift Police Action

Under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Santosh Kasbe, a crime branch team initiated parallel investigations. A crucial breakthrough came from CCTV footage recovered from the vicinity of the crime scene. The footage helped police identify one of the perpetrators.

Acting on a specific tip-off that the identified man was at Dehu Phata, the police laid a trap and took him into custody on Monday. During sustained interrogation, the arrested man confessed to his involvement in the crime and disclosed the identities of his four accomplices.

This information led to the swift apprehension of the entire gang. From their possession, the police recovered two cellphones that were robbed from the victims. The authorities have also seized the mini-truck used to commit the abduction.

Victims Abandoned, Accused Handed Over

In a chilling detail revealed by Inspector Kasbe, the gang later abandoned the two abducted friends in a forested area along the Alandi-Chakan road. The victims were eventually found, bringing a traumatic end to their ordeal.

The crime branch has now formally arrested three adult members of the gang. Their three accomplices, who are reported to be minors, have been detained. All the accused have been handed over to the Alandi police for further investigation and legal proceedings.

This case highlights the prompt action of the Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch in using technological evidence like CCTV to solve a serious crime and ensure the safety of daily wage workers in the Pune region.
