Pune Academy Officials Face Charges in Tragic Student Suicide Case
In a deeply distressing incident, officials from a private training academy located in Handewadi, Hadapsar, Pune, have been formally booked by the police for allegedly abetting the suicide of a 16-year-old student. The young victim, a resident of Beed, was discovered deceased in his hostel room on November 10, 2025.
Initial Investigation and Subsequent Case Registration
The Phursungi police initially recorded the death as accidental on the same day it occurred. However, the situation took a significant turn when the deceased student's father lodged an official complaint with the authorities this past Saturday. Following this complaint, the police registered a case of abetment to suicide against the academy officials, shifting the investigation's focus.
Allegations of Ill-Treatment and Theft Accusations
According to police statements, the father's complaint detailed serious allegations against the academy staff. He claimed that officials at the training center subjected his son to ill-treatment. This alleged mistreatment reportedly stemmed from an incident where the student's roommate accused him of stealing a sum of cash. The father asserts that this hostile environment and the academy's response contributed directly to his son's tragic decision.
Academy's Focus and Broader Implications
The private academy in question specializes in preparing students for highly competitive entrance examinations, including those for the National Defence Academy (NDA) and the Services Selection Board (SSB). This case has raised urgent questions about the pressures faced by students in such intensive coaching environments and the duty of care owed by educational institutions. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the full extent of the officials' involvement and to ensure justice for the bereaved family.
