The officer reportedly assured the victim that if this payment was made, no formal case would be registered against him in connection with the businessman's complaint. Following negotiations between the victim and the police officer, the alleged bribe amount was eventually reduced to Rs 1 lakh.

The victim, after being subjected to this alleged extortion attempt, decided to approach the Anti-Corruption Bureau. He formally lodged his complaint with the ACB on March 3, providing details of the officer's demands and the negotiation process.

After carefully examining the recorded conversations in which the officer allegedly demanded the bribe, we found sufficient grounds to register a formal case against him."
