Pune Cat Dispute Turns Violent: Family Assaults 60-Year-Old Woman
Pune: Cat Dispute Leads to Assault on Elderly Woman

A dispute over pet cats escalated into a violent attack in Pune's Tathawade area this week, resulting in a 60-year-old woman being assaulted by a family of three. The incident occurred on Tuesday night in Panchshilnagar, where the elderly woman resides alone.

Background of the Dispute

The woman had been complaining to her neighbor about five cats that frequently entered her home and jumped on her tin shed, causing a nuisance. Despite repeated requests, no action was taken by the neighbor.

The Assault

On Tuesday night, while the woman was having dinner, the cats entered her house. When she shooed them away, the neighbor came to her home and began abusing her. According to a Wakad police station officer, when the woman tried to reason with the neighbor, the neighbor's daughter grabbed her by the hair. The mother and daughter then allegedly punched and kicked her. Subsequently, the neighbor's son picked up a brick from the footpath and struck the elderly woman on the forehead. The trio fled after the woman raised an alarm.
