Pune Police Book Four Men for Attempted Extortion and Property Damage
The Bhosari MIDC police in Pune have taken swift action by registering a formal case of attempted extortion against four individuals from the Moshi area. This serious incident unfolded on Saturday when the accused allegedly resorted to violent tactics after a woman firmly refused to comply with their demand for Rs 2,000.
Violent Confrontation Leads to Injuries and Property Damage
According to detailed police reports, the confrontation escalated dramatically on Friday night. The four men, who reside in the same locality as the victim, visited her residence and explicitly demanded the money. When the woman stood her ground and declined to pay, the situation quickly deteriorated.
The accused began verbally abusing the woman before launching a physical assault on her property. They pelted bricks and stones at her house, causing significant damage. One of the projectiles struck the woman directly on her face, resulting in visible injuries that required attention. Additionally, the attack shattered multiple windowpanes, leaving the home vulnerable and in disrepair.
Neighbors Intimidated as Accused Claim Local Dominance
The commotion attracted concerned neighbors who rushed to the scene to assist the distressed woman. However, their intervention was met with threats from the accused. The men allegedly boasted about being the "bhai" (local strongmen) of the area, attempting to intimidate the bystanders and prevent further resistance or reporting of the crime.
Following the incident, the woman's son took immediate action by filing a formal complaint with the Bhosari MIDC police station. This prompted a thorough investigation into the matter.
Police Investigation Progresses with Identities Confirmed
An officer from the Bhosari MIDC Police provided an update on the case, stating, "We have successfully ascertained the identities of all four accused individuals involved in this attempted extortion and assault. Our teams are actively pursuing further investigations to gather all necessary evidence and ensure justice is served."
The police have emphasized that such acts of intimidation and violence will not be tolerated, and they are committed to maintaining law and order in the community. The case remains under active investigation as authorities work to apprehend the accused and bring them to justice.
