Pune Police Nab Suspect in Gold Chain Robbery Case Involving MBA Students
In a significant development, the Bund Garden police in Pune have successfully apprehended a 21-year-old unemployed individual in connection with a distressing incident of robbery and assault targeting college students. The arrest, made on Saturday, follows allegations that the suspect violently robbed a gold chain valued at approximately Rs 1.95 lakh from an MBA student after assaulting him and his three friends.
Incident Details: Late-Night Altercation Near Pub
The unsettling episode unfolded in the early hours of Friday, around 12:15 am, near a pub situated off Raja Bahadur Mill Road. According to police reports, four MBA students were walking between two pubs late on Thursday night when they encountered the suspect driving an SUV. Senior Inspector Santosh Pandhare of the Bund Garden police provided crucial insights into the sequence of events.
"The suspect repeatedly honked at the students, sparking a heated argument that quickly escalated into a physical scuffle," Pandhare explained. "During the altercation, the driver allegedly snatched one student's gold chain and fled the scene in his vehicle."
Police Investigation and Arrest
Acting swiftly on the complaint, the police team launched a thorough investigation, meticulously examining CCTV footage obtained from the pubs in the vicinity. This forensic analysis proved instrumental in identifying the registration number of the SUV involved in the crime.
"Based on the evidence gathered from the CCTV footage, we were able to track down the suspect," Pandhare stated. "He was subsequently apprehended on Raja Bahadur Mill Road on Saturday."
Further revelations from the investigation indicate that the suspect is a frequent visitor to the pub area, often seen roaming in his SUV. It is reported that he had visited a pub on the night of the incident and was leaving the area when the confrontation with the students occurred.
Health Concerns and Hospitalization
In a twist following the arrest, the suspect's health deteriorated, necessitating immediate medical attention. He was promptly admitted to Sassoon General Hospital for treatment, adding a layer of complexity to the ongoing legal proceedings.
