A 30-year-old man sustained severe burns on his face, eyes, and chest after his 62-year-old father threw acid at him at their residence near Paud Road in Kothrud, Pune. The incident occurred around 8 am on Thursday, and the victim filed a complaint with the Kothrud police on Friday evening.
Police Investigation Underway
Senior Inspector Sandeep Deshmane of Kothrud police stated, 'We have registered a case of causing grievous hurt against the 62-year-old man and served him a notice to cooperate with the investigation.' The victim works as a housekeeping staffer with a company.
Motive Behind the Attack
According to Deshmane, the elder man, a daily wage worker, had been demanding money from his son. The victim refused, leading to a fight between them late Wednesday night. 'Next morning, the man was sleeping in his bed when his father woke him up and threw acid on his face. The victim had earlier brought home a bottle of acid used for cleaning tiles and toilets,' Deshmane added.
The victim was immediately admitted to a private hospital for treatment. Police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
