A shocking case of domestic violence culminated in murder and a subsequent confession in Pune, leading to the arrest of a 35-year-old man by the Phursungi police. The accused, identified as Akash Vishnu Dodke, allegedly strangled his wife to death at their rented residence in Bhekrainagar, Hadapsar.
Confession at the Police Station
In a startling turn of events, the accused himself walked into the Hadapsar police station late on Friday night. According to Senior Inspector Amol More of Phursungi police, Dodke narrated the entire incident, detailing how he killed his wife. Following his confession, officials from Hadapsar police station took him to the Phursungi police station for further legal proceedings.
Root Cause: Heated Arguments Over Childlessness
During interrogation, the police uncovered a tragic and persistent marital conflict. Dodke revealed that he and his 27-year-old wife, Priyanka, had engaged in a heated argument on Friday night. The couple, who had recently moved to Pune from Daund, reportedly had a history of disputes centered on one painful issue: children.
Dodke told the police that his wife was unable to conceive, and this had become a recurring cause of tension and arguments between them. The confrontation on Friday night escalated to a fatal extreme, with Dodke using a rope to strangle Priyanka to death.
Formal Complaint and Ongoing Investigation
The gravity of the crime was further underscored later on Saturday when the victim's brother, Sagar Adagale (35), lodged a formal complaint with the authorities. The police have registered a case and are continuing their investigation into the matter. This incident has cast a spotlight on the extreme pressures and devastating outcomes that can arise from familial disputes and societal expectations surrounding parenthood.
