The Parvati police in Pune have registered a criminal case against the owners of a pet dog following allegations that the animal bit 10 individuals over the past two weeks. The complaint was filed by Akshay Sathe (30), a resident of Parvati Paytha and a private driver by profession.

Incident Details

According to the police, the dog reportedly bit a local resident around 4:30 PM on Wednesday. The canine had been allowed to roam freely in the lane without any supervision or restraint.

Police Statement

Senior Inspector Rajendra Sahane of the Parvati police station stated, “The pet owners failed to keep the dog enclosed or on a leash. The canine roams freely in the lane without supervision. Over the past two weeks, several residents have claimed that the dog attacked people walking through the area, biting them on their legs, hands, and thighs.”

He added, “We have written to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) requesting officials to examine the dog. The owners have neglected their responsibility of controlling the pet.”

Legal Action

The case has been registered under relevant sections of the law. The police are investigating the matter and have urged residents to remain cautious. Further action will be taken based on the PMC's report on the dog's health and behavior.
