Pune: The Laxminagar police have arrested a 22-year-old man and are searching for his accomplice in connection with a robbery that occurred near the Yerawada Metro station on May 29. The incident took place around 12:30 PM when a woman and her 28-year-old brother were robbed of Rs 25,000.

Arrest and Identification

The arrested individual has been identified as Ayan Nasir Shaikh, a resident of Kasba Peth. According to the police, Shaikh and his accomplice were roaming the city on a motorcycle and randomly targeted the siblings.

Details of the Incident

Senior Inspector Ravindra Kadam of the Laxminagar police stated, "The siblings were walking towards their home in Laxminagar from the Metro station when the two accused approached them on a motorcycle. The duo allegedly pushed the siblings to the ground, snatched the cash, and fled from the spot."

Kadam further added, "None of the passersby or local residents intervened. Before anyone could react, the accused had escaped on their motorcycle."

Investigation and Search

The police examined CCTV footage from the area and traced Shaikh through the motorcycle's registration number. "Efforts are on to apprehend his accomplice," Kadam said. The police continue to investigate and urge anyone with information to come forward.
