Pune police conducted a late-night raid in the Budhwar Peth red light area around 1 am on Monday, rescuing five Bangladeshi women who were being forced into prostitution. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone I) Krushikesh Rawale led the operation, which uncovered these illegal migrants.

Details of the Raid

The Faraskhana police confirmed that the women had been coerced into sex work for the past three months. This raid follows a similar operation on April 28, when police found 11 women and three men from Bangladesh, including a minor girl, in the same area.

Ongoing Crackdown

Over the last eight months, Pune police have identified more than 90 Bangladeshi nationals—both men and women—living illegally in the red light district. The authorities continue to intensify efforts to dismantle human trafficking networks operating in the city.
