In a decisive operation on Thursday night, the Pune City Police successfully rescued four women from Bangladesh who were being held against their will in a brothel located in the Budhwar Peth area. The victims had been lured to India under the false pretense of legitimate employment opportunities, only to be coerced into prostitution upon their arrival in Pune.
Coordinated Police Action Based on Intelligence Tip-Off
The rescue mission was initiated following a specific tip-off received by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-1) Rishikesh Rawale. Acting swiftly on this critical information, a specialized team from the Faraskhana police station was mobilized. The operation was led by Senior Police Inspector Prashant Bhasme, who orchestrated the raid that led to the liberation of the four women.
Police authorities have confirmed that the women were trafficked by an agent operating from Bangladesh. "An agent from Bangladesh sold those women to the brothel," stated officials, highlighting the transnational nature of this criminal network. The victims were essentially sold into sexual exploitation after being deceived with promises of gainful employment.

In connection with this human trafficking and prostitution racket, the police have arrested one individual. Furthermore, a formal case has been registered against a Bangladeshi agent, who is accused of orchestrating the trafficking, and against the woman who owned the property in Budhwar Peth where the illicit activities were being conducted.
