Pune Police Crack Three Murder Cases with Arrest of Three Suspects
In a significant breakthrough, the Pune Rural Police have announced the arrest of three men, claiming to have solved three separate murder cases, including one that appears to be a contract killing. All these gruesome incidents were reported within the Khed taluka of Pune district, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Details of the Arrested Individuals
Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill provided detailed information during a press conference on Thursday. The arrested individuals have been identified as Lalit Deepak Khollam (38), a resident of Shiroli in Ambegaon, along with Nandlal Dilip Hole (31) and Nilesh Kailas Sanas (34), both hailing from Karegaon in Ambegaon.
Gill emphasized the criminal background of Khollam, describing him as a notorious history-sheeter. "Khollam has a long and violent criminal record. He was previously arrested under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) and was released from prison only in 2024," Gill stated. The police official further revealed that a staggering 35 cases are registered against Khollam, encompassing serious offences such as murder, crimes against the human body, and multiple robberies.
Investigation into the March 18 Murder
The investigation gained momentum following the brutal murder of Dhananjay Maruti Ghevade (33), a resident of Khed, on March 18. Ghevade was found dead, having been violently assaulted. This case prompted an intensive parallel probe by the local crime branch, led by Inspector Pramod Kshirsagar.
In a meticulous investigative effort, the team analyzed footage from 110 CCTV cameras installed along a 145-kilometer stretch from Khed to Vadgaon Nimbalkar. This exhaustive digital scrutiny proved crucial. The probe conclusively established that Lalit Deepak Khollam, along with his associate Nandlal Dilip Hole, was directly involved in the murder of Dhananjay Ghevade.
Solving Multiple Cases
While the arrest directly links the trio to the March 18 murder, police authorities have indicated that these arrests have provided leads to solve two additional murder cases reported in the same region. The nature of one of these cases suggests a contract killing, pointing to a more organized criminal motive. The police are continuing their investigation to uncover the full extent of the trio's involvement and any potential connections to other criminal activities in the Pune rural area.
This operation underscores the Pune Rural Police's commitment to leveraging technology, such as extensive CCTV network analysis, to track down and apprehend dangerous criminals, thereby enhancing security in the district.
