Pune Road Rage Escalates into Violent Attack with Jack
A routine traffic reprimand in Pune's Punawale area turned into a violent roadside assault on Sunday afternoon, resulting in serious injuries to a real estate consultant and the subsequent arrest of an autorickshaw driver. The incident highlights the dangers of road rage and the severe consequences of traffic rule violations.
From Verbal Reprimand to Physical Violence
According to the Ravet police, the confrontation began when the 34-year-old real estate consultant, a resident of Punawale, was driving his car near his residence. He spotted an autorickshaw speeding towards him from the wrong side of the road, creating a dangerous situation. The consultant immediately stopped his vehicle and confronted the autorickshaw driver, later identified as 27-year-old Santosh Bhosale from Mulshi, about his reckless driving and disregard for traffic safety.
What started as a verbal warning quickly spiraled out of control. Bhosale allegedly responded with abusive language, escalating the argument into a heated exchange. The situation deteriorated further when Bhosale forced the consultant out of his car. In a sudden and violent act, Bhosale retrieved a jack from inside his autorickshaw and struck the consultant on his left palm, inflicting a deep and serious wound.
Medical Treatment and Police Action
The victim suffered a severe cut on his palm and was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency medical attention. Doctors administered seven stitches to close the wound. After receiving treatment, the real estate consultant filed a formal complaint with the Ravet police, providing crucial details including the autorickshaw's registration number and a description of the assailant.
"Based on the complaint and the information provided by the victim, our team tracked down and arrested the accused autorickshaw driver on Monday," stated an officer from the Ravet police station. "The arrest was made under Section 118 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means, along with other relevant sections."
The police have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing to examine all aspects of the case. This incident serves as a stark reminder of how quickly minor traffic disputes can escalate into serious criminal offenses, endangering lives and public safety.
