Tragic Expressway Crash Claims Lives of Three Pune Students Returning from Leh-Ladakh
In a devastating incident on Wednesday morning, three young friends from Pune lost their lives instantly when their car went out of control, struck a divider, and plunged off a flyover on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. The accident occurred near Balapura village in Kota, Rajasthan, marking a tragic end to what had been an adventurous vacation.
Victims Identified as Students from Pune Areas
The police have identified the deceased as Sidhant Alaat, 21, from Wakad; Kunal Chordiya, 25, from Mahalunge; and Mayurewa Padle, 23, from Pimpri. All three were students who had embarked on a trip to Jammu and Kashmir and Leh-Ladakh with a group of seven other friends, traveling in three separate vehicles.
According to Manoj Sikarwal, the Station House Officer of Kaithoon, the fatal crash happened as the group was returning from their journey. One of the cars veered off the flyover, resulting in grievous injuries to the occupants. They were rushed to a local hospital, where doctors declared them "brought dead." The autopsy was subsequently conducted at the mortuary of CHC Kaithoon.
Extended Trip Due to Snowfall Stranding
The Pimpri Chinchwad police revealed that the students' vacation had been prolonged unexpectedly. The group found themselves stranded in Kargil for three to four days due to heavy snowfall, which disrupted their travel plans. Maval MP Shrirang Barne played a crucial role in assisting the group during their ordeal. He coordinated with Border Security Force officials to facilitate their evacuation after they reached out to him for help last week.
