Police in Pune have revealed that the death of 26-year-old trekker Ketan Agarwal was not an accident but a murder. His fiancee and her male friend allegedly pushed him into a deep gorge at Lohagad fort on June 18, 2026, and attempted to pass it off as a tragic fall.

A police official stated, "We have detained the fiancee and her male friend and are probing the incident as murder," but declined to provide further details.

The Incident

Agarwal, a director in his family's real estate firm and a resident of Gahunje near Pune, had climbed the historic Lohagad fort on the morning of June 18 with his fiancee and two close friends. The group had gone to celebrate her upcoming birthday. According to the initial police report, Agarwal was taking pictures when he lost his balance due to fierce winds and fell 400 feet into a valley.
