A 22-year-old woman who was assaulted by her coworker on April 29 succumbed to her injuries on Thursday. The incident occurred in the woman's room at Chandannagar. The accused barged into her house and attacked her with a sharp weapon on her neck. The woman was undergoing treatment at a hospital, where she later died.
Arrest and Charges
The Chandannagar police have arrested the accused under Section 109 (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). An officer from the Mundhwa police stated, 'We will add Section 103 (murder) against the accused.'
Background of the Incident
The deceased woman and the accused, both 22 years old, worked together at a mall located on Pune-Nagar Road. They were in a relationship. Recently, the woman's parents arranged her marriage with another man, and she told the accused to end their relationship. Enraged by this, the accused brutally assaulted the woman.
Victim's Brave Act
Despite severe injuries, the woman managed to make a video call to her brother and informed him about the attack. She was not in a condition to speak, but she wrote the accused's name on a piece of paper, which helped the police trace him.
