Shocking Family Tragedy Unfolds in Ferozepur Residence
A horrifying incident of murder-suicide has shaken the Harman Nagar area of Ferozepur in Punjab. Local financier Mahi Sodhi, aged around 40, allegedly shot his wife, Jasvir Sodhi, and their two minor daughters, aged 10 and 6, before turning the gun on himself early on Thursday. The entire family was found dead in their bedroom with bullet injuries.
Discovery by Help and Neighbors
The grim discovery was made after the family's domestic helper arrived for work in the morning. Getting no response to the doorbell or phone calls, she alerted the tenants living on the first floor of the building. Along with neighbors, they forced open the door to find the four bodies. The weapon used in the crime was recovered from the spot beside the bodies.
Senior Superintendent of Police Bhupinder Singh Sidhu confirmed the sequence of events to reporters. He stated that the police are actively working to determine the motive behind this extreme act. A forensic team has been deployed to the scene to collect crucial evidence that might shed light on the circumstances leading to the tragedy.
Family's Last Movements and Community Shock
Preliminary police reports indicate that the family had gone out on Wednesday night and returned home around 11 pm. This detail adds to the mystery, as there were no immediate signs of distress reported earlier. Local residents expressed profound shock, describing the Sodhi family as maintaining cordial and normal relations with everyone in the neighborhood.
The incident has sent waves of grief and disbelief through the community. Mahi Sodhi, who also owned a salon business alongside his financing work, was a known figure in the area. The police investigation is ongoing, with officials meticulously examining all angles to understand what triggered this devastating act of violence against his own family.
