Punjab Police's Operation Prahaar 2.0 Concludes with Massive Crackdown on Criminals

In a decisive three-day operation, Punjab Police teams have successfully concluded Operation Prahaar 2.0, culminating on Wednesday with extensive raids across the state. The operation, part of the broader Gangstran Te Vaar campaign, targeted wanted criminals and resulted in significant arrests and seizures.

Extensive Raids and Arrests Across Punjab

Police teams conducted raids at a staggering 8,278 locations linked to wanted criminals during the 72-hour operation. According to Special Director General of Police (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla, a total of 7,498 individuals were rounded up across Punjab. Of these, 3,260 persons were arrested, including 135 proclaimed offenders (POs).

In addition to the arrests, police made 1,450 preventive arrests to curb potential criminal activities. Furthermore, 2,788 individuals were verified and released after thorough questioning, ensuring a balanced approach to law enforcement.

Significant Seizures of Weapons and Narcotics

The operation yielded substantial recoveries of illegal items from the possession of the arrested individuals. Police teams confiscated:

  • 47 weapons, enhancing public safety by removing potential tools of violence.
  • 4.8 kg of heroin and 3.6 kg of opium, striking a blow to the drug trade in the region.
  • 42,797 intoxicant pills and 68 kg of poppy husk, further disrupting narcotics networks.
  • Rs 30 lakh in drug money, crippling the financial backbone of illegal activities.

Operation Achieves Objectives Beyond Expectations

Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav emphasized that Operation Prahaar 2.0 achieved its objectives beyond expectations. He stated, "Gangstran Te Vaar is a sustained campaign that will continue with full force until Punjab is completely cleansed of the gangster menace." This declaration underscores the police's commitment to ongoing efforts against organized crime.

The success of this operation highlights the Punjab Police's proactive strategy in combating criminal elements, leveraging intelligence and coordinated raids to maintain law and order. The recovered contraband and arrests demonstrate a significant step toward curbing gangster activities and drug trafficking in the state.
