Punjab Police ASI's wife robbed in Ludhiana snatching

In a startling incident that has exposed glaring security vulnerabilities, the wife of a Punjab Police officer became the latest victim of street crime in Ludhiana when motorcycle-borne assailants snatched her purse near Jagraon on Saturday evening.

The Brazen Attack Near Sherpur Railway Gate

The victim, Karamjit Kaur, who hails from Kokri Kalan village in Moga and is married to Assistant Sub-Inspector Harjeet Singh, was returning home with her daughter on a scooter after shopping for the daughter's upcoming wedding. The purse snatching incident occurred specifically near the Sherpur Railway gate area during late evening hours.

According to local sources, two masked men on a motorcycle strategically approached the mother-daughter duo from behind. In a swift and well-coordinated move, the pillion rider grabbed the purse from Karamjit Kaur, who was seated behind her daughter on the scooter. The assailants immediately fled the scene after committing the crime.

Stolen Items and CCTV Evidence

The stolen purse contained significant valuables including at least ₹15,000 in cash, multiple mobile phones, and several essential documents. Fortunately, neither Karamjit Kaur nor her daughter sustained physical injuries or fell from the scooter during the sudden attack.

Investigators have confirmed that the entire incident was captured by nearby CCTV cameras. The surveillance footage reportedly shows the suspects following the mother and daughter for some distance before briefly stopping due to traffic and then executing the snatching. A crucial detail visible in the footage is that the suspects' motorcycle lacked a front registration number plate.

Police Response and Investigation Progress

Police authorities have officially recorded the victim's statement and are actively analyzing the CCTV footage for investigative leads. Law enforcement sources have indicated significant progress in the case, revealing that the two suspects have been identified as residents of a village near Jagraon.

Authorities have assured the public that arrests are imminent in this high-profile case. The brazen nature of the attack, particularly targeting a police officer's family member, has intensified scrutiny on the prevailing security situation in the region and raised serious questions about the increasing frequency of snatching incidents in the area.
