Punjab VB Arrests DRO Reader for Rs 20,000 Bribe

The Punjab vigilance bureau (VB) on Monday arrested Davinder Pal Singh, a reader to the Moga district revenue officer (DRO), for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000. The arrest was made following a complaint lodged by a resident of Chak Kanian Khurd village in Dharamkot tehsil.

Details of the Complaint

According to a VB spokesperson, the complainant's son had a pending land partition case involving 13 acres before the DRO in Moga. The accused allegedly demanded Rs 1 lakh to resolve the matter within five to six months and sought Rs 50,000 as an advance payment. The complainant recorded the conversation and subsequently approached the VB.

Trap and Arrest

Acting on the complaint, the VB laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while he was accepting Rs 20,000 from the complainant in the presence of two independent witnesses.
