Railway Board Director General Reviews Safety and Production at RCF
Hitendra Malhotra, Director General-Safety of the Railway Board, conducted a comprehensive visit to the Rail Coach Factory (RCF) in Kapurthala on Friday. He was accompanied by his team and held a detailed meeting with Ajay Nandan, General Manager of RCF, along with principal heads of departments and other senior officials.
Focus on Coach Safety and New-Generation Manufacturing
The discussions primarily revolved around critical issues related to coach safety, production performance, and the manufacturing of new-generation coaches during the current financial year. The Design Department of RCF presented an in-depth overview of various initiatives undertaken by the factory to enhance safety features in coaches and strengthen other vital safety systems.
Workshop Inspection and Safety Review
During his tour of the workshop, Malhotra closely examined the coach manufacturing processes and reviewed the production of a rake that incorporates newly introduced safety features. He inspected the electrical equipment and systems installed in the coaches and engaged in detailed discussions with RCF officials on various safety-related aspects. He provided valuable insights and suggestions for further strengthening safety measures in coach manufacturing. Appreciating the state-of-the-art infrastructure and efficient manufacturing processes at RCF, he offered constructive recommendations aimed at enhancing safety standards and operational efficiency.
Visit to Technical Training Centre
Malhotra also visited the Technical Training Centre (TTC) at RCF, where he reviewed the various training programs conducted for employees. He interacted with officials involved in training activities and examined the course content, training methodology, and facilities available for skill development and capacity building. He appreciated the technological advancements achieved by RCF and advised the organization to adopt and promote best practices for further enhancing safety features, productivity, and operational excellence. He assured that the Railway Board remains committed to extending all possible support to RCF in its pursuit of higher growth, innovation, and technological advancement.
Union Representatives Submit Memorandum
Later, representatives of the recognized union submitted a memorandum to Malhotra highlighting various staff-related issues concerning employees’ welfare, working conditions, and organizational development.
