Body Discovered After Neighbours Report Odour
A railway employee was discovered dead under mysterious circumstances in his quarters within the railway colony in Ludhiana. The deceased, identified as Awadhesh Kumar Yadav, a technician, had not been seen outside his room for several days. On Tuesday evening, neighbours detected a strong stench emanating from his quarters and alerted railway officials.
Upon receiving the information, members of the railway union arrived at the scene. They found the door of the quarter open and Yadav's body lying inside in a badly decomposed state. The body was swollen due to extreme heat, with the eyes and tongue protruding.
Union Official Recounts Shocking Scene
NRMU branch head Gaurav Sharma told mediapersons that when he and other union members came to enquire, they were shocked to see Yadav dead. Sharma stated, "It seemed that the victim might have died a few days ago. The body was swollen due to the extreme heat. The eyes and tongue had protruded." He added that Yadav was last seen a few days ago around 11 pm in the office.
Sharma noted that the victim was an alcoholic. Preliminary suspicions suggest that excessive alcohol consumption, combined with exposure to extreme heat, may have resulted in his death. However, the actual cause will only be known after the post-mortem report arrives.
Police Investigation and Family Notification
Investigating officer Sunil Kumar, from Police Division 8, confirmed that the police received information about the incident on Tuesday evening. The deceased was a native of Bhagalpur, Bihar. His wife had been in their native village for the past eight days. The police took the body into custody and placed it in the mortuary of the Ludhiana Civil Hospital.
Yadav's family in Bihar has been informed about the incident. A post-mortem examination will be conducted after the family arrives in Ludhiana. Police are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the exact cause of death.
