SOG Files Case Against Three Rajasthan Constables Over Alleged 2014 Recruitment Fraud

In a significant development in Barmer, Rajasthan, the Special Operations Group (SOG) has registered a formal case against three police constables on February 9. This action follows the detection of critical signature mismatches during a routine service record verification process, nearly a decade after their initial recruitment into the force.

Allegations of Using Dummy Candidates in 2014 Exam

Official sources have revealed that the constables are suspected of having allegedly employed dummy candidates to appear on their behalf during the crucial 2014 constable recruitment examination. Through this purported fraudulent means, they successfully secured their appointments in 2015, gaining entry into the Rajasthan Police.

The accused individuals have been identified as:

  • Omprakash, currently posted at the Kotwali Police Station in Barmer.
  • Gangaram, presently serving at the Sedwa Police Station in Barmer.
  • Sumermal, who is currently working with the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) in Jaipur.

Investigation Triggered by SP Report in October 2025

The entire matter came to light following a detailed investigation that was initiated after a formal report from Barmer Superintendent of Police (SP) Narendra Singh Meena on October 8, 2025. Acting on this report, the SOG commenced a thorough examination of the case, which ultimately confirmed substantial discrepancies in the service records of the three constables who were appointed back in 2015.

The investigative process uncovered that the signatures present on key documents—including biometric application forms, OMR answer sheets, and other official paperwork—of these constables did not match. This glaring inconsistency raised immediate and serious suspicions of potential fraud in the recruitment process.

SOG DIG Confirms Case Registration and Ongoing Probe

SOG Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Paridesh Deshmukh has officially confirmed that, based on the preliminary investigation conducted after the SP's report, a formal case has indeed been registered against the three constables. DIG Deshmukh emphasized that a more intensive and comprehensive investigation is currently underway.

He further stated that the probe is not limited to the constables alone. Other critical aspects related to the examination process and the potential role of any accomplices are also being meticulously examined to uncover the full extent of the alleged fraud.

This case highlights ongoing concerns about the integrity of recruitment processes within government services and underscores the vigilance of internal audit mechanisms in detecting irregularities, even years after appointments are made.
