Rajasthan Men Arrested After Police Chase in Dehradun

Dehradun: In a dramatic early morning operation on Thursday, Dehradun police arrested two men from Rajasthan following a brief exchange of fire in the Premnagar area. Four other suspects managed to escape, officials confirmed.

Incident Details

The incident unfolded around 3:30 AM when police personnel stationed at the Nayagaon checkpost in Premnagar signalled a car with Rajasthan registration plates to stop for routine inspection. Instead of complying, the occupants accelerated, attempting to run over the officers. This prompted a high-speed chase spanning several kilometres.

According to Dehradun Superintendent of Police (City) Pramod Kumar, the suspects eventually abandoned their vehicle and fled towards a secluded area. During their escape, they opened fire at the pursuing police team using country-made weapons. The police retaliated, resulting in one of the accused sustaining a bullet injury to his leg. He was immediately apprehended and taken to a nearby hospital. Another suspect was captured by the police team, while four others escaped into the darkness.
