In a significant move to bolster women's security across the state, Rajasthan Police has introduced a comprehensive technology-based initiative just ahead of International Women's Day, celebrated globally on March 8. The statewide campaign, officially launched on Sunday, is being implemented under the direct guidance of Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma, according to official statements from the police department.
QR Code Posters Deployed Across Public Transport Networks
As a core component of this safety drive, distinctive QR code posters linked to the 'RajCop Citizen App' are being systematically installed in various modes of public transportation. This includes buses, autorickshaws, and taxis that operate throughout Rajasthan. Police officials have clarified that commuters, particularly women, can simply scan these QR codes during their journeys to gain immediate access to police assistance directly through the mobile application.
The 'Need Help' feature within the RajCop Citizen App is designed to function as an emergency tool, allowing users to send their precise location details to the nearest police control room with a single tap in case of any threatening situation or distress.
Targeted Safety for Female Students and Working Women
Authorities have emphasized that this initiative is specifically aimed at providing an enhanced and reliable safety mechanism for female students and working women who frequently use public transport. By integrating technology at the grassroots level, the police aim to create a more responsive and accessible security environment. In support of this overarching drive, traffic police units in all districts of Rajasthan are conducting special awareness campaigns to educate the public about the new system and encourage widespread adoption of the safety app.
