Rajkot Court Delivers Swift Justice in Heinous Child Rape Case

A special POCSO court in Rajkot has handed down the death penalty to a 32-year-old man from Madhya Pradesh. The court convicted Ramsingh Dudva for the horrific rape and sexual assault of a seven-year-old girl near a village in Jasdan taluka.

Swift Legal Process and Maximum Punishment

The court delivered its order just 41 days after police arrested the accused. Public prosecutor S K Vora stated that the court considered this among the rarest of rare cases. It awarded Dudva the death sentence and ordered payment of Rs 7 lakh compensation to the survivor's family.

The police completed their investigation in only 11 days. Prosecution arguments concluded within nine days. The court convicted Dudva under multiple sections of the POCSO Act. These included aggravated penetrative sexual assault when the victim is below 12 years and when the offence is committed repeatedly on the same child.

Brutal Details of the Crime Emerge

Vora revealed disturbing details about the assault. The accused violated the young survivor using an iron rod. During the attack, she suffered unbearable pain and pulled the accused's hair with force. Investigators later found this hair at the crime scene.

"The accused was a pervert," Vora told reporters. "We strongly urged that he should not be released. Even life imprisonment was not sufficient for such a crime."

Timeline of the Horrific Incident

The terrible events unfolded on December 4. The survivor was playing with her siblings and other children in an open field. Dudva arrived on a motorcycle and forcibly took her to a secluded place near a tree.

There, he committed the depraved act of violence. He used a six-inch iron rod to inflict life-threatening internal injuries. The girl's aunt heard her piercing screams and rushed to the spot. This prompted the accused to flee immediately.

Rescuers found the child in critical condition and bleeding profusely. Medical teams took her to several facilities before transferring her to Rajkot's government-run Janana Hospital. Specialists and surgeons worked tirelessly to save the unconscious girl's life.

Efficient Investigation and Coordination

Rajkot Rural superintendent of police Vijaysinh Gurjar addressed media persons about the case. "We gathered all evidence expeditiously," he said. "We submitted the chargesheet within 19 days in court."

The prosecution and survivor's family requested expedited hearing due to the case's seriousness. Vora confirmed that statements from the survivor and other children present were recorded during trial. The survivor, who had suffered the trauma just a month earlier, gave firm and consistent testimony before the court.

All government departments worked in close coordination during investigation and trial. This included medical teams, forensic experts, and the executive magistrate.

Arrest and Evidence Recovery

Police initially had no leads about the perpetrator. Rajkot authorities detained Dudva on December 8 based on suspicion. During his remand period, he led officers to the blood-stained iron rod. He had hidden the weapon under a tree.

Assistant public prosecutor Prashant Patel assisted Vora throughout this landmark case. The swift legal process and maximum punishment reflect the judiciary's commitment to protecting children from sexual predators.
