Rampur Police Expose Brutal Double Murder Disguised as Road Accident
In a shocking revelation from Rampur, police have uncovered a cold-blooded double murder that was meticulously staged to look like a tragic road accident. The case involves a contractor who allegedly murdered his three-year-old son and his wife, a police constable, in a calculated plot to claim insurance and service benefits totaling approximately Rs 2 crore.
Initial Suspicion and Investigation
The husband, Dan Singh, initially reported to authorities that their car had caught fire after colliding with a dumper truck. However, his unexplained survival from the incident immediately raised red flags among investigators. Rampur Superintendent of Police Somendra Meena stated that this inconsistency prompted a deeper probe into the circumstances surrounding the alleged accident.
Gruesome Details of the Crime
According to police findings, Dan Singh had spiked his wife Lata Singh's drink with sedatives before driving to a secluded location. "He, along with his accomplices, then doused the vehicle with petrol and set it ablaze," explained SP Meena. "While son Avansh burned to death, the woman constable somehow managed to come out of the burning car. They then forced her into another vehicle and battered her to death with a hammer."
Methodical Planning and Execution
The investigation revealed that the couple had traveled to Nainital to visit Dan's relative, Ravi Kumar, who accompanied them on their return journey. Dan deliberately crashed their car into a truck in the Bajpur region near Rampur, his hometown. After the vehicle sustained damage, they stopped, and Dan provided two bottles of beverages laced with sedatives to his wife and son.
Once they were unconscious, Dan summoned his friends to carry out the murder. Two associates, Pradeep Kumar and Mohd Salman, arrived with a can of petrol, poured it on the car, and set it on fire before fleeing the scene. As flames engulfed the vehicle, Dan and Ravi escaped, but the child perished. Lata, despite being semi-conscious, miraculously managed to exit the burning car.
Dan then contacted another associate, Noor Hasan, who arrived in a separate car. They placed Lata inside and brutally hammered her to death, completing the horrific crime.
Arrests and Evidence Recovery
Police have registered a case against five individuals involved in the murder plot. Three of the accused, including Dan Singh, Noor Hasan, and Mohd Salman, are already in custody. Authorities have successfully recovered the murder weapon and the vehicles used in the commission of the crime, strengthening their case against the perpetrators.
Background and Previous Suspicious Death
Dan Singh married Lata in 2021. Lata was posted in Shravasti district, and their relationship had reportedly deteriorated over the years. "Lata was Dan's second wife. His first wife also died in mysterious circumstances, and we are looking into it," revealed Superintendent of Police Meena, indicating that this might not be an isolated incident in Dan's history.
This case highlights the extreme lengths to which individuals may go for financial gain, involving premeditated violence against family members. The police investigation continues as they piece together all evidence to ensure justice for the victims.
