Ranchi Police Cracks Down on Child Trafficking Network
Ranchi police achieved a significant breakthrough on Sunday. They busted a child trafficking racket and arrested thirteen traffickers. The operation led to the recovery of twelve minors from various districts across the region.
Operation Follows Recovery of Missing Siblings
This major crackdown came just days after police successfully traced two missing minor siblings from Dhurwa. The children had been missing for over two weeks. An intense twelve-day search operation finally reunited them with their family last week.
Police arrested a couple in connection with the siblings' disappearance. Their interrogation provided crucial leads. These leads directly enabled Sunday's larger operation against the trafficking gang.
Political Leaders Applaud Police Action
Leaders from various political parties united to commend the Ranchi police. This show of support marked a rare moment of political consensus. The police force had faced considerable criticism during the initial search for the missing children.
Former Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Raghubar Das took to social media to praise the force. He called their work commendable and noble. Das stated the police saved many children from a dark future and congratulated all personnel involved.
BJP Claims Credit for Police Pressure
However, the BJP camp presented a different narrative. State president Aditya Sahu issued a statement praising the police. But he claimed the recoveries resulted from intense pressure applied by the BJP through continuous protests.
Sahu pointed out that hundreds of children remain missing in Jharkhand. He expressed confidence that police would trace them too. The BJP leader emphasized that missing children often come from poor, impoverished families. He urged the Jharkhand police to show greater sensitivity in curbing crimes against children.
Ruling Alliance Parties Extend Gratitude
Congress, a key member of the ruling alliance, sent a delegation to meet Jharkhand's Director General of Police. They extended their gratitude for the successful operation.
Party general secretary Alok Dubey credited the police's hard work and sensitivity for busting the gang. He assured that under the alliance government, police would continue to expose such criminals in the coming days.
The RJD, another ruling alliance partner, demanded a special reward for the Ranchi police team. Spokesperson Kailash Yadav highlighted that solving the Dhurwa siblings' case led to further recoveries and arrests. He acknowledged the team's crucial role in the broader crackdown.
The operation has brought the serious issue of child trafficking in Jharkhand into sharp focus. While political reactions varied, the successful recovery of children provided a moment of relief for many families.
