Ranchi police have launched a comprehensive verification drive for employees working in bars and restaurants across the city. This initiative follows a clear directive issued by Senior Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ranjan on January 7.
Police Directive Targets Employee Documentation
SSP Rakesh Ranjan instructed all bar and restaurant owners to submit detailed documents for their staff members. The order covers every employee category including cooks, waiters, bartenders, cleaning personnel, and security staff. Owners must provide identification proofs and complete verification applications for each worker.
Mixed Compliance Across Police Stations
Different police stations report varying levels of compliance with the verification order. At Sadar police station, Officer-in-Charge Kuldeep Kumar confirmed significant progress. "Approximately half of all employees from three business establishments have submitted their documents," Kumar stated. "These documents include Aadhar cards, voter ID cards, and valid address proofs. We are actively contacting the remaining employees to complete their verification."
Chutia police station officials reported complete compliance from three eating joints in their jurisdiction. All employees at these establishments have successfully completed the verification process.
However, Lalpur police station presents a different picture. Officer-in-Charge Rupesh Singh expressed frustration with seven bars and restaurants in his area. "Despite multiple appeals and reminders, none of these establishments have followed the verification order," Singh revealed.
Strict Action Promised for Non-Compliance
Superintendent of Police Paras Rana emphasized the seriousness of the verification drive. "The verification process is actively underway throughout Ranchi," Rana stated. "While many business owners have cooperated fully with police requirements, we will not hesitate to take strict action against those who fail to comply with the directive."
Violent Incidents Prompt Police Action
The police verification order comes in response to several disturbing incidents at bars and restaurants. Recent months have seen multiple reports of brawls and altercations occurring at these establishments.
A particularly tragic incident occurred on January 4 when a young man from Garhwa lost his life at a Ranchi bar. Just four days later, police arrested three students for allegedly running over the victim with a four-wheeler outside the same bar premises.
These violent events prompted SSP Rakesh Ranjan to implement the employee verification system. The police believe that proper documentation and background checks will help identify potential security risks among staff members. This preventive measure aims to strengthen overall law and order in the city's hospitality sector.
The verification process serves multiple purposes for law enforcement. It helps create a database of employees working in sensitive establishments.
