In a tragic incident in Meerut, a retired police sub-inspector and his wife were discovered hanging inside their home in the Rakshapuram area under the Ganganagar police station jurisdiction on Wednesday morning. The distressing scene came to light around 9 am when the domestic help of Lallu Singh, aged 66, and his wife Santosh Devi, aged 62, found the house locked from the inside. Unable to gain entry, the help alerted neighbors, who then contacted the couple's son, Sandeep Kumar. Sandeep resides separately with his wife in the nearby Gangadham Colony and rushed to the scene upon receiving the news.

According to Ganganagar Station House Officer Anup Kumar Singh, the couple was found hanging from two ends of the same bedsheet. A post-mortem examination confirmed that death was due to hanging, with indications suggesting the extreme step was taken late at night. Satyendra Singh, a relative, stated, "They had been living here for a long time. My uncle and aunt were always in good spirits and very close. Given their nature, it is hard to believe they would take such a step." Neighbors last saw the couple on Tuesday evening, adding to the mystery surrounding their sudden demise.

Lallu Singh retired from his service in Muzaffarnagar in 2020, after a career in law enforcement. The couple's son, Sandeep Kumar, is a former airport employee, while their daughter is married and resides in Punjab.
