Retired Tata Steel Employee Kills Wife, Daughter, Son

A retired Tata Steel employee allegedly killed his wife, pregnant daughter, and son with an axe and a hammer at their Agrico-based quarter early Monday. He has been detained for interrogation, police said.

Accused Ravinder Prasad Singh (61) had retired from service in February this year, police added. The deceased wife was identified as Sarita (55). Deceased daughter, Supriya (31), had got married in November 2025 and was three-month pregnant, while deceased son Ravishek Kumar Singh (30) worked with a private company, police added.

ASP Rishabh Trivedi said, “Preliminary investigations have revealed that the accused first killed his wife in the kitchen of their quarter L5/13 located on Road number 2 under the Sidhgora police station limits while she was reportedly attending to her daily chores. He, then, attacked his daughter and son in their respective bedrooms while they were asleep.”

“The accused had himself called Dial 100 to report the incident. When the police reached the spot, they found the accused sitting on the floor, surrounded by blood-soaked bodies. Medical history, including any mental illness, of the accused and trigger behind the murders are being investigated,” he added.

East Singhbhum SSP Piyush Pandey said, “The exact cause of domestic dispute and trigger behind the crime are being probed. Investigation revealed that Singh has had a history of conflict with his family since his retirement in February this year.”

Neighbours told police that they attempted to enter the house to check on the family members after receiving an alert from Singh’s younger daughter, who lives in Delhi. But the accused drove them away.

“The bodies have been sent to the MGMMCH for post-mortem. A forensic team examined the crime scene. But the accused is not cooperating in the interrogation. He is repeatedly saying that his mental condition is not sound and that he should be left alone,” the ASP added.
