Road Rage in Mohali: Thar Youths Attack Fortuner Men with Axe, Sword

In a shocking incident of road rage in Mohali, a group of youths traveling in a Thar allegedly attacked two friends in a Fortuner with sharp-edged weapons. The assault occurred in Phase 11 on the night of May 25, leaving the victims with severe injuries.

Incident Details

Complainant Ekampreet Singh, a resident of Phase 11, stated that he was driving his Fortuner SUV with his friend Maninder when a Chandigarh-registered Thar overtook them near Phase 10. Moments later, their vehicle overtook the Thar. At a traffic signal in Phase 11, the Thar occupants surrounded their car and accused them of racing. Five to six youths then alighted and attacked Ekampreet and Maninder using an axe, a datar, and a sword.

Injuries and Medical Treatment

Ekampreet sustained deep cuts on his head and arm, requiring 22 stitches. His friend Maninder also suffered severe injuries, needing 10 stitches. Both were admitted to the civil hospital in Phase 6 for treatment.

Police Investigation

The accused fled after the attack. Phase 11 police arrived at the scene, recorded statements, and filed a case under relevant sections of the BNS for attempt to murder against five unidentified individuals. SHO Inspector Aman said CCTV footage from the area is being analyzed to identify the suspects.

Authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information regarding the incident. Further updates are awaited as the investigation progresses.
