In a major burglary that has shocked the Siwan district, thieves made off with cash and jewellery worth approximately Rs 1.10 crore from the locked house of a plastic pipe businessman. The incident occurred in Barwan Khurd village under the Basantpur police station area on Monday night.
Details of the Brazen Burglary
The house owner, Ravishankar Singh, was away in Patna with his family when the criminals struck. According to the police complaint, the thieves decamped with a staggering Rs 87 lakh in cash and gold and silver jewellery valued at around Rs 23 lakh. A staff member who stays at the premises discovered the break-in on Tuesday morning upon noticing the broken lock and immediately alerted Singh.
Police Launch Investigation with Dog Squad
Upon receiving the information, the businessman rushed back to the village and filed a formal report at the Basantpur police station on Wednesday. Given the high value of the stolen items, the police treated the case with utmost seriousness. A dedicated police team, accompanied by a dog squad, swiftly reached the crime scene to collect evidence and begin a thorough investigation.
"We live in Patna with our family. Only one staff member stays here," stated Ravishankar Singh. "On Tuesday, the staff called and informed us about the incident, after which we came to the village and informed the police. The police reached the spot and investigated. They assured us that the criminals will be arrested soon."
Assurances of Swift Action
Authorities have confirmed that they are exploring all possible angles in the case. Maharajganj SDPO Aman Kumar addressed the media, stating, "We are investigating the case from all angles. The accused will be arrested soon." The police are likely examining local clues, potential insider involvement, and the movement of suspicious persons in the area to track down the perpetrators responsible for one of the most significant thefts in the region recently.
The audacious heist has raised concerns about security in the area, especially for locked properties whose owners reside elsewhere. The investigation is ongoing as police work to unravel the sequence of events and recover the stolen wealth.
