RTO Fines Congress Leader for Fake MLA Sticker

The Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Kalyan has penalized Surendra Adhav, the Maharashtra state secretary of the Congress party, for displaying an unauthorized MLA sticker on his private car and possessing a red and blue beacon light inside the vehicle.

Incident Details

According to sources, Adhav visited the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) office on Monday for official work. An RTO team present at the spot noticed the car bearing an MLA sticker. Upon questioning, officials discovered that the vehicle was not officially assigned to any MLA.

During the inspection, the team also found a red and blue beacon light kept inside the car. Additionally, the vehicle did not have a valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate.

Penalties Imposed

Assistant inspector Prashant Suryavanshi imposed a fine of Rs 500 for the illegal use of the MLA sticker, Rs 500 for the unauthorized beacon light, and Rs 500 for the expired PUC certificate, bringing the total penalty to Rs 1,500.

Suryavanshi warned that stricter action, including seizure of the vehicle, could be taken if such violations are repeated in the future.

Background of the Accused

Surendra Adhav has previously served as a member of the KDMC transport committee and is considered a close associate of senior Congress leader Sanjay Dutt.
