Salem Highway Collision Claims Lives of Mother and Young Son
A devastating road accident unfolded on the Salem-Chennai National Highway near Pethanaickenpalayam in Salem district this Saturday. The incident resulted in immediate fatalities and left multiple individuals injured.
Details of the Tragic Collision
Two cars collided with significant force on the busy highway. Reports indicate a vehicle traveling from Namakkal towards Chennai suddenly lost control. It then crashed directly into another car coming from the opposite direction.
The impact proved fatal for two passengers in one car. A 27-year-old woman named S Priya from Namakkal died at the scene. Her four-year-old son, Dasvindh, also perished instantly in the crash.
Injured Victims and Hospital Admissions
The driver of the car, Priya's 32-year-old husband M Suresh, sustained injuries in the accident. Their seven-month-old baby boy was also hurt. Emergency services rushed both to the Salem Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
Occupants of the second vehicle did not escape harm. Four individuals from that car suffered various injuries. They received medical attention at the Pethanaickenpalayam government hospital.

Local authorities have initiated a formal investigation into the circumstances of the crash. The Yethapur police station registered a case related to the incident. Officers are working to determine the exact cause of the driver losing control.
