Young Driver Found Dead in Samastipur Residence
A tragic incident has been reported from the Samastipur district of Bihar. A 25-year-old pickup truck driver, Rahul Ranjan Kumar Mahato, was discovered hanging from the ceiling of his room on Thursday. The location falls under the jurisdiction of the Pusa police station. While the initial scene suggested a suicide, the victim's family has raised serious allegations of foul play, turning the case into a potential homicide investigation.
Family's Allegations of Murder and Caste Dynamics
The most vocal allegations have come from the deceased's father-in-law, Amarnath Paswan. He has outrightly claimed that his son-in-law was murdered and the scene was manipulated to look like a suicide. Paswan provided background to the relationship, stating that Rahul had married his daughter, Soni Kumari, in a love marriage four years ago. He highlighted that the couple belonged to different castes but had known each other since childhood as they studied in the same school and lived barely 500 metres apart in the same village.
The couple have two children. At the time of the incident, Rahul was living alone in Samastipur as his immediate family resides in Delhi. His wife, Soni Kumari, was at her parental home with their children on the fateful day.
Prior Threats and a Suspicious Head Injury
Amarnath Paswan narrated events leading up to the tragedy. He revealed that Rahul had recently visited his in-laws' house and complained about being abused by two individuals from the same village, identified as Ramji Paswan and Malhu Paswan. "I told him the matter would be settled the next day, but he threw his phone and left," Paswan stated.
The father-in-law's suspicion of murder stems from a critical observation. He insisted that Rahul had a visible head injury, which, according to him, indicates that the young man was killed before being strung up to simulate suicide. "It appears to be murder disguised as suicide," he asserted, demanding a thorough probe.
Police Investigation and Next Steps
The police have initiated an investigation based on the family's complaint. Samastipur ASP Sanjay Pandey confirmed that the body was sent for a post-mortem examination at Sadar Hospital. He emphasized that the exact cause of death would be determined only after the autopsy report is received.
"An FIR is being registered, and those named by the family will be interrogated," ASP Pandey said, outlining the immediate course of action. The case now hinges on the forensic findings and the subsequent interrogation of the named suspects, as authorities work to unravel whether it was a case of suicide or a meticulously planned murder.
