A shocking incident of sexual violence has rocked Sambalpur district in Odisha, where a 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped and her elder sister faced an attempted assault. Police have taken swift action, arresting the prime accused and detaining a juvenile accomplice.

The horrific crime unfolded this past Saturday. According to the official complaint, the 17-year-old elder sister was returning home from college on a government bus. Meanwhile, her younger sibling waited for her at the village square. It was there that two youths from a nearby village, aged 22 and 17, allegedly targeted the younger girl.
The accused reportedly dragged the 13-year-old victim into a nearby forest and raped her. In a further brazen act, they later tried to sexually assault the 17-year-old sister when she disembarked from the bus. Following the twin attacks, both perpetrators fled the scene.
Police Investigation and Swift Arrests
The traumatized girls immediately informed their family, leading to a formal police complaint. Law enforcement officials launched a prompt investigation. The Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Prasanta Meher, stated that the case presented a major challenge, with the primary objective being the immediate arrest of the accused.
