Samrala Police Arrest Three in Blind Murder Case

Ludhiana: Samrala police on Monday claimed to have cracked a blind murder case with the arrest of three men who allegedly beat a youth to death after catching him with a girl related to them in a village. The deceased, a native of Uttar Pradesh, was residing in a village near the Machhiwara area.

Police Investigation

SP (Investigations), Khanna, Pawanjit Chaudhary said the victim's brother approached the police, alleging that his younger sibling had been murdered by unidentified persons. Acting on the complaint, the police registered a case and initiated a probe. Given the gravity of the offence, DSP Pritpal Singh constituted multiple teams to investigate the case. “The accused were identified and apprehended within 12 hours,” the officer said.

Details of the Incident

During preliminary investigation, it emerged that the deceased was in a relationship with a girl who was his classmate. The youth reportedly used to visit her at night, and her family members came to know about the relationship. Police said that on the intervening night of May 9 and 10, the girl's family noticed her absence and began searching for her. Upon locating the couple, the girl's father, uncle, brother-in-law, cousin, and another associate allegedly assaulted the youth. The victim succumbed to the injuries.

Police sources said that the accused allegedly stripped the body and dumped it on a road in Samrala area. Police said three of the accused have been arrested, while raids are underway to nab the remaining two, including the father of the girl. The arrested men will be produced in court, and their police remand will be sought for questioning. More disclosures are expected in the case.
