A tragic incident unfolded in Namakkal district on Monday morning when a sanitation worker lost her life after being struck by an unidentified vehicle. The victim's relatives, demanding answers, blocked the Kokkarayanpettai-Tiruchengode road, causing a two-hour disruption.

The deceased, identified as K Geetha, 42, was a resident of Ammachchipalayam in Namakkal district. She worked as a sanitary worker for the Kokkarayanpettai panchayat. The accident occurred near her home while she was on her way to work. The impact was fatal, and she died at the scene.
Family's Search and Discovery
After Geetha failed to return home, her relatives began searching for her. They eventually discovered her body lying near a thorn bush by the roadside. The family promptly informed the Kokkarayanpettai police station about the incident.
Police Response and Protest
Upon arrival, police attempted to retrieve the body for an autopsy. However, the relatives intervened, refusing to allow the body to be moved until the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run was identified. They blocked the road in protest, demanding immediate action.
