Indore: In a shocking incident late Friday night, two youths sleeping at a farm in Shajapur district were shot at and brutally beaten by three men, including a village sarpanch, in an attack stemming from an old rivalry.

Details of the Incident

The assault occurred in Indore Barodiya village, which falls under the Sundarsi police station limits. The victims, identified as Ravi Singh (25) and Lalsingh (27), reported that the perpetrators arrived at the farm around 3 am. They first opened fire at the victims' legs before assaulting them with sticks.

Victims' Account

After the attackers fled, the injured men contacted their family members via phone. They were subsequently taken to Shajapur district hospital for medical treatment. The victims have accused village sarpanch Dharam Singh, along with Rajesh Singh and Bheru Singh, of carrying out the attack.

Political Rivalry Alleged

Ravi Singh's uncle, Ram Singh, alleged that the assault was linked to political rivalry in the village following local elections. The family claims that the sarpanch and his associates targeted the youths due to longstanding enmity.

Police Response

Sundarsi police station in-charge Manisha Sharma stated that police arrived at the scene after receiving information. The statements of the injured are being recorded, and an investigation is underway. No arrests have been made as of now.
