In a daring heist, unidentified miscreants broke open a State Bank of India (SBI) ATM in Motala, Buldhana, and made off with cash amounting to Rs 6.9 lakh in the early hours of Saturday. The incident occurred at an ATM located near the tehsil office under Borakhedi police limits on the Buldhana–Motala road.
How the Burglary Was Executed
The accused employed a spray to obscure the CCTV cameras at the ATM, effectively disabling surveillance. They then used a gas cutter to break open the machine and fled with the cash. The burglary came to light around 5 am after an alert was generated by the system at approximately 4:17 am.
Police and Forensic Teams on Site
Officials from the bank and Borakhedi police station in-charge Sitaram Mehetre, along with API Balaji Shegempallu, PSI Rajendra Kaple, and other personnel, reached the scene promptly. Senior officers, including SP Nilesh Tambe, Addl SP Amol Gaikwad, SDPO Sudhir Patil, and teams from the local crime branch, forensic unit, dog squad, and fingerprint experts, conducted a thorough inspection at the spot. A case has been registered against unknown persons, and investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the culprits.
