A 23-year-old Scottish social media influencer has formally pleaded guilty to charges of attempting to smuggle a substantial quantity of cannabis, with an estimated street value of up to £150,000 (approximately Rs 1.86 crore), into Scotland through Edinburgh Airport. Ellie Crampsie was intercepted by UK Border Force officers on April 16 of last year, immediately after her arrival on an Air France flight that originated in Thailand with a stopover in Paris. During standard routine questioning at the airport, Crampsie confirmed her travel itinerary before authorities proceeded to inspect her luggage.
Upon search, officials uncovered 17 individually sealed vacuum packages containing approximately 17.7 kilograms of cannabis. In the United Kingdom, cannabis is classified as a Class B controlled substance under drug legislation. The total estimated street value of the confiscated drugs was assessed to range between £115,000 and £151,000, highlighting the scale of the smuggling operation.

Crampsie appeared before Edinburgh Sheriff Court on March 26, 2026, where she admitted to being involved in the supply of cannabis. Prosecutor Emma Laing detailed the chronological sequence of events for the court, explaining that Crampsie was arrested at the airport shortly after the discovery of the drugs in her possession.
Her defence lawyer requested the continuation of bail, describing her prior criminal record as "unremarkable in the context of this offence" and emphasizing that she has strong family support.
